POV is very important in art. ideas like perspective and foreshortening began and were perfected during the renaissance...

But in Modern day Illustration, POV allows the viewer a chance to feel whatever the individual-POV is feeling.

Things like adding the individual-POVs hands and arms help to compliment the feeling and even help to identify who the POV is.
